This piece of land was later sold to Dharnamma’s brother, Shivanna Gowda, after which the two started living with Shivakumar’s sister at Mysuru.
The husband-wife duo suddenly arrived at Uppinangady from Mysuru a few days back. It is said that Shivakumar, who mercilessly beat up his wife, escaped after dumping Dharnamma on the road near a hotel at Uppinangady. The people, who saw her lying there in helpless condition, admitted her into the government hospital here.

After she died on Tuesday, her brothers refused to even claim her body, it is gathered. Therefore, her body has been preserved in the mortuary at Mangaluru. The police have asked her relatives or heirs if any to contact Uppinangady station.
