Opposition attacks govt over law and order situation in Punjab
Oppn attacks govt over law and order situation: Claiming that law and order situation in Himachal Pradesh was deteriorating, leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday said that frequent gang rape, loot, murder and firing incidents were bringing bad name to the state. “It seems that law and order is missing and mafia is ruling the roost,” he alleged. The ex-CM said that gang rape incident involving two minor girls in Sirmaur was not only is unfortunate but also an example of failed law and order machinery.
Raising the issue of gun firing incident at IIT Kamand in Mandi district, Dhumal said that accused involved in the firing incident were out of the reach of investigating agencies just because of their political connections. “On the other hand, police are thrashing tourists in the broad daylight,” he added.
He alleged that the state government was using the police machinery only to victimize its political opponents. Dhumal said that state government had also failed to ensure effective supply of essential commodities through the public distribution system. “Such is the situation that for last two months ration has not been distributed at some places,” he added. He alleged that under the garb of price rise, pulses were being provided for Rs 63 a kg under public distribution system which smacked of corruption.
