Mangaluru: Murder plot – son of Vamanjoor Rohi among two held
Mangaluru, Jun 24: Pavan Raj Shetty (18), son of Rohidas Shetty alias Vamanjoor Rohi from Vamanjoor, a rowdy-sheeter who was murdered in 2009, and Kumar T M alias Sooryakumar (34), a resident of Gurunagara Jeppinamogaru in the city, were arrested by the police personnel on Monday June 22. The arrests were made by the personnel of city crime branch (CCB).
Pavan faces an attempt to murder case, which stands registered in the rural police station here in 2014, accusing him of attempting to murder Santosh Kottary. The other person, Sooryakumar, faces murder case of Vasudeva Shenoy in Barke station, murder attempt on Vicky alias Vikram at Naguri, in city (south) police station. He also has been charged with ganja trafficking by the coastal security police force personnel.
Reportedly, the two were plotting the murder of a political leader, who also is a Vamanjoor-based entrepreneur. It is said that Pavan Raj Shetty has been nurturing enmity against this well-known personality as he suspects that the latter was extending assistance to persons accused of eliminating his father. He had drawn assistance of some others to keep an eye on the movements of the concerned for drawing up a plan of murder.
The policemen, acting swiftly after getting information that the accused were moving around a college in Vamanjoor, armed with lethal weapons in a two-wheeler, raided the spot and took both the above persons into custody. A Yamaha Fazer motor bike, three swords, a knife, 250 grams ganja and a cell phone were seized from their possession. The accused as well as the things taken into possession from them were handed over to rural police station here for further action.
The raid was conducted under the guidance of city police commissioner, S Murugan, and law and order deputy police commissioner, K M Shantaraju, by CCB inspector, Valentine D’Souza, police sub-inspector, Shyam Sundar, and other police personnel.
