ASI nabbed taking Rs 3000 bribe
ASI Sawinderjit Singh, deputed at Dehlon police station, had allegedly demanded Rs 4000 for taking action on a complaint lodged by Surinder Singh of Jassowal village.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), vigilance bureau, Satinder Singh said Surinder reportedly had a clash with residents of the same village following which he lodged a complaint at police station Dehlon.
But ASI Sawinderjeet Singh, investigating officer (IO) in the case, demanded Rs 4,000 from the complainant to take action against the accused.
The ASI took Rs 1,000 from the complainant in advance and asked him to give rest of the amount on Tuesday. But Surinder went to vigilance bureau, which laid a trap and arrested the accused red handed.
A case has been registered against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act.
