Woman, 2 sons rescued at KSRTC bus stand
MANGALURU: Officials of Childline 1098 Mangaluru on Monday rescued a mother and her two children who were living on the platform of KSRTC bus station at Bejai for the past four days. Renukamma, 30, of Ukkudakere in Hosapete of Ballari district was abandoned by her husband. “She was left to fend for herself and her two sons, aged seven and two, respectively,”said Sampath Katii, Childline 1098 Mangaluru coordinator.
Renukamma subsequently sought shelter at her mother-in-law’s house. However, a few days back, the inmates of her mother-in-law’s house threw Renukamma and her two young children out of the house over a trivial domestic issue.
Renukamma, not knowing what to do next, boarded a bus and landed at KSRTC bus station.
With no money to return to Ballari, she was spotted in a helpless state at the bus station. Taking note of their condition, the officials of Childline took Renukamma and her children to Dharmajyothi Samaja Seva Institute and rehabilitated them. Supreetha, Sampath and Asuntha D’Souza of Childline 1098 coordinated the rescue and the rehabilitation efforts. Officials of Childline 1098 had rescued another family in distress at Shaktinagar.
