Upset over woman constable’s death, armourer shoots self
INDORE: A couple of hours after a 27-year-old woman constable Archana Singh Tomar committed suicide, a male armourer posted at quarter guard at RAPTC ended life on Wednesday night. The dead, Jayveer Singh Chouhan was allegedly in relationship with the woman constable.
“Last night when Jayveer on duty came to know about suicide by Archana, he was upset over it. After talking to his colleagues, he went on roof of quarter guard building and shot self in neck using his service gun. The bullet penetrated neck. Hearing sound of explosion, a guard rushed to the roof to find him dead. The body was taken to MY hospital and suicide was reported at Aerodrome station,” CSP RC Rajput said. From messages and call details from Jayveer’s mobile, it became apparent he was in relationship with Tomar, sources said.
Investigation into Archana’s case it was found women cop was harassed by her husband Ramsevak Sikarwar, a forest guard in Khandwa district. Archana had lodged a complaint on September 18 against her husband, mother-in-law Usha Sikarwar and brother-in law Arpan Sikarwar for domestic violence and demanding dowry worth Rs 2.5 lakh only few days after marriage on July 5 last year. She had filed a complaint at Sadar Bazar police station against her husband on May 9.
She had been receiving threats from her husband asking her to withdraw complaints from Sadar Bazar police station and women’s cell.
Archana had reportedly made efforts to draw attention of DIG through a letter on June 6 this year stating that she was not satisfied by course of action taken by Sadar bazaar police station officials.
