Sexual abuse of minor girls at an ashram in Raigad district
NAVI MUMBAI: A case of sexual abuse of minor girls has come to light at a children’s shelter home in Rasayani, Raigad district.
The FIR under various sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) was registered at Rasayani police station on Wednesday.
At least four ashram inmate girls aged between 13 and 15 years have come forward to recall the abuse they have been through here.
“The detailed statement of one of the minor girls has been taken and inquiry is on regarding others,” said a police official of Raigad district.
At present the case is lodged against ‘unknown person’ as investigation is on.
The ashram is run by a trust since 2004. There 18 boys and girls — mainly orphans and from poor families — residing there.
