Tripura HC curbs on pvt practice of government doctors

AGARTALA: The Tripura High Court, in an interim order passed on Friday, has banned private practice of government doctors in nursing homes, health clinics and diagnostic centres. However, they are only allowed to practise at home.

A division bench of chief justice Deepak Gupta and justice Subhashis Talapatra has said government doctors are not allowed to run personal chambers for more than three hours on a working day and six hour on a holiday.

Hearing a suo motu PIL registered in 2013, based on a media report about negligence of doctors in government hospitals, HC issued a complete ban on engagement of government doctors in nursing homes, clinics and diagnostic centres.
