NOIDA: The wife of a man who was jailed in Delhi last year on charges of rape has alleged she was sexually assaulted on June 5 in Noida by a medical store owner, who had promised her a job.

Her husband is lodged in Tihar jail but TOI is withholding his name to not give away her identity. The woman is 25 years old and, according to police sources, was forced to look for a job since her husband’s arrest had driven her to penury.

The woman approached Sector 49 police station to file a complaint but an FIR was registered only on June 21 after she met special superintendent of police Preetinder Singh and sought his intervention, sources said.

Within hours of that, medical store owner Satyaveer Singh, who she accused of raping her and threatening her with a gun, was arrested.

A senior police officer said Singh’s store was near the woman’s house and he had promised to get her a job when she sought his help. “The woman says in her complaint that on June 5, the accused took her in a car to the premises of a company in the Barola area,” the police officer said. “But finding the gates shut, he redirected the car to his residence in the same area, where he allegedly raped her at gunpoint.”

Arvind Yadav, DSP, Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “We have recorded her statement.” Singh was taken to court on Monday and sent to judicial custody.

INDORE: A tribal woman was thrashed and gangraped by five people in a graveyard in Khandwa district.

Accused left the survivor naked and escaped.

She anyhow managed to reach the nearest locality, where local women gave her clothes and informed police on Monday night.

Four out of the five accused have been arrested by police.

“She has sustained injuries and is admitted at district hospital. The accused have been arrested and investigations are underway,” SP Khandwa M S Sikarwar told TOI.

The survivor is resident of Khargone and she left her home around 7 days ago, Kotwali police station incharge, Ajit Patel told TOI.

“She is in a state of shock after the incident. So far we have arrested four namely Bhuru alias Amzad, Santu alias Santosh, Suresh alias Bhopali and Rajesh alias Guddu alias Bruceli. All of them are residents of Khandwa and we have launched a hunt for the fifth accused,” Patel said.

The survivor told police that she was passing through a bridge in Khandwa town and was hungry, on the bridge there were five-six youth, who offered her food and took her to graveyard under the bridge, where they started molesting her, on resisting she was thrashed.

Later the five took turns to rape her and even threw her clothes away, survivor told police. She anyhow managed to reach to the gates of the graveyard and reached the nearest locality where two women offered her clothes and food and informed police. The survivor was taken to the district hospital where her treatment is underway.

KOZHIKODE: Police have arrested a migrant worker from Assam for allegedly attempting to rape a student of Pariyaram Medical College near the college premises in Kannur, on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 8.30am when the student was on her way to the college.

According to police, the accused dragged the girl towards the bushes on the side of the pathway leading to the college. Students and locals rushed to the spot as soon as they heard her screams.The girl sustained minor injuries on her hand.

The accused was identified as Saidul Islam (28) from Morigaon district of Assam. According to the police, Islam was an employee of the college canteen.

The incident occurred on the side of national highway near the college campus. The accused, who escaped from the place immediately after the local people and students gathered at the spot, remained in hiding for over four hours.

He was later spotted and caught by a group of locals from a nearby bus stop. The police also recovered the identity card of the accused and a mobile phone following a search carried out at the place of his accommodation.

The police charged the person for rape attempt under Section 376 and Section 511 of the IPC, said an official. The arrest would be recorded after detailed interrogation, said the official. Investigation was carried out by officials with Pariyaram Medical College Police station led by sub-inspector A Kuttikrishnan.

NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by a man, whom she befriended on Facebook, and his accomplices.

Police said the girl, a resident of east Delhi’s Mandawali, had last week claimed that she was kidnapped. However, a week later, she claimed before police that she was gang-raped by three men, including her friend.

The girl told police that on June 20, she was going to the market when her friend asked her out. She refused and he came back in his car and offered her water. She fell unconscious after drinking the water. The accused then took her to Noida and raped her.

She has also alleged the youths forced her to text her parents for Rs 5 lakh as ransom. They then left her near her house.

Police said a case of kidnapping has been registered for now and the woman’s claims are being verified.

ARA: A newly married Mahadalit woman was gang-raped by four men on the outskirts of Karisath village in Bhojpur district around Saturday midnight. Taking swift action, police on Sunday arrested three persons in this connection.

The three have been identified as Indu Dom and Jaiky Dom of Town police station area, and Bhola Ram of Maula Bagh locality under the same police station area. They were later sent to jail. Police brought the woman to Ara sadar hospital for medical examination. Police are searching for two others involved in the incident.

According to the complaint lodged with woman police station here, Reena Kharwar (name changed), a resident of Bihia in the district, got down from a passenger train at Jagjivan Halt, about 4km from Ara railway station, late on Saturday evening and reached Chandwa under Nawada police station area. Five persons were following her en route Chandwa, who forcibly took her to a field near Karisath village and four of them outraged her modesty one by one, the complaint said.The woman reached Ara in the wee hours of Sunday and narrated her ordeal to a mobile police party, which took her to Nawada police station.

SDPO Binod Kumar Raut said the woman got down from a train at Jagjivan halt and reached Chandwa on foot. “The five miscreants followed her. Seeing them, the woman complained to a mobile police team there that the miscreants were chasing her. The police team shooed away the miscreants and hired a three-wheeler to take her to Karisath. After the police team left the place, the miscreants forcibly boarded the same three-wheeler, took her to Karisath and gang-raped her in a field,” he said.

The accused, however, said all of them, including the woman, are luggage-lifters. The woman had snatched a chain from a passenger and they were demanding their share in the booty but she refused and instead implicated them in the false case of rape, they said.
