Wife of man jailed for sexual assault raped
NOIDA: The wife of a man who was jailed in Delhi last year on charges of rape has alleged she was sexually assaulted on June 5 in Noida by a medical store owner, who had promised her a job.
Her husband is lodged in Tihar jail but TOI is withholding his name to not give away her identity. The woman is 25 years old and, according to police sources, was forced to look for a job since her husband’s arrest had driven her to penury.
The woman approached Sector 49 police station to file a complaint but an FIR was registered only on June 21 after she met special superintendent of police Preetinder Singh and sought his intervention, sources said.
Within hours of that, medical store owner Satyaveer Singh, who she accused of raping her and threatening her with a gun, was arrested.
A senior police officer said Singh’s store was near the woman’s house and he had promised to get her a job when she sought his help. “The woman says in her complaint that on June 5, the accused took her in a car to the premises of a company in the Barola area,” the police officer said. “But finding the gates shut, he redirected the car to his residence in the same area, where he allegedly raped her at gunpoint.”
Arvind Yadav, DSP, Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “We have recorded her statement.” Singh was taken to court on Monday and sent to judicial custody.
