Ex-Judges plea for pension-HC notice to state and centre
BENGALURU: The Karnataka high court has ordered notice to the state as well as central government in response to a petition filed two former judges of the court.
Justice BV Nagarathna directed both the state and Union government to file their response to the petition filed by K Jagannatha Shetty and T Jayarama Chouta, both former judges of the Karnataka High Court.
The petitioners have challenged the failure of the Union government to amend the High Court Judges (Salary and Conditions) Act so as to give pension benefit to those retired judges, who served for less than seven years as judges of a high court in terms of 2014 verdict of the Supreme Court.
They have also claimed that Andhra Pradesh had already implemented the Apex courts’ directive.
