Miscreants set house on fire, woman brunt alive in Rajasthan
JAIPUR: A 70-year-old woman was burnt alive after some unknown miscreants set her house on fire at a village in Udaipur district on Sunday.
The incident took place at Salumber area’s Kalipa village in the morning.
A police officer said that some villager saw the makeshift house engulfed in flames following which they informed the police. They also tried to rescue the woman, but she was charred to death.
The police suspect that the house was intentionally set afire.
“Some evidences suggest that someone deliberately put her house on fire. The woman was bedridden due to a prolonged illness following which she couldn’t rescue herself,” said the officer.
Senior police and administration officers including SP Ajaypal Lamba camped in the village till late afternoon. Some people have been detained for questioning.
