Son helps woman’s rescue from hellhole
INDORE: A 35-year-old Indore woman, who mysteriously went missing in March 2014, was found on Monday night by her 13-year-old son, Monu, in the house of a neighbour in Pawanpuri Colony-Palda, where she was repeatedly raped in captivity for eleven months.
Monu, a Class 7 student, was playing near his neighbour Anil Silawat’s house around 8.30 pm, when he heard a muffled voice of his lost mother. He looked up and heard her screaming for help. He spotted her peeping out from a window of Silawat’s house and pleading with his son to rescue her. Monu ran home, just eight houses away and informed his father Madan Chourasia, 40, a labourer.
The father-son duo immediately went to Sanyogitaganj police and lodged a complaint. Police rushed to Silawat’s house and rescued the woman, who was locked in a room under vigil of his 60-year-old mother.
Assistant sub-inspector and investigating officer in the case, Anju Bakshi, said the woman narrated her ordeal to the police. She had gone to an aunt’s place in Damoh in March 2014. On her return to Indore, her neighbour Anil Silawat, 45, kidnapped her from the Navlakha bus stop and locked her in his house. Anil, a widower, has two teenaged sons, besides his mother.
“Anil would force the woman to do household chores and then lock her in the room. She also alleged he would physically torture and sexually assault her,” Bakshi told TOI on Tuesday.
On Monday night, while Anil and his sons were away, his mother brought the woman outside the room to massage her body. Just when the old woman fell asleep, the rape survivor spotted her son outside the house. And this led to her rescue. “We have booked both Anil Silawat and his mother for kidnapping, wrongful confinement, rape and criminal intimidation,” said Bakshi.
