Auto driver held for rape bid on Delhi woman
GURGAON: A 25-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested on Monday, for allegedly trying to sexually assault a Nepali woman, who lives in Delhi and had come to Gurgaon on a visit.
The woman told police she had hired the auto in DLF-V around 10am. But the driver stopped the auto on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, dragged her into the bushes and tried to rape her. She managed to escape, but noted the number.
Police said they tracked down Anjum Ali, the auto driver, within three hours, based with the help of the registration number. Ali, according to the cops, lives in Nathupur but is originally from Bengal. “We will take him to court on Tuesday”, said Rajesh Kumar, ACP (crime).
