Asked to vacate house, retired postman dies of cardiac arrest
Mangaluru : In a sad case, a retired postman who suffered a cardiac arrest following a court order to vacate houses at Gatti Bittil in between Roopavani and Ramakanthi Theatre, passed away on January 30, Friday.
The deceased is Janardhana Gatti (61). It is learnt, he had received a call from Bunder Police Station a few days ago stating that there has been a court order directing them to vacate houses.
There was a land dispute between the tenants and the land owner Subhash Bhat and a court case was underway wherein the land owner had pleaded that the tenants be evacuated. As per the court order, eight families had to vacate their houses.
Gathering information of the court order, Gatti had approached his lawyer who assured to get a stay order. Meanwhile, the land owner had reportedly asked the tenants to place their belongings outside.
Gatti had developed chest pain soon after and was shifted to a nearby private hospital where he breathed his last on Friday, He was a former postman and is survived by his wife and daughter.
