Woman Sub-Registrar complains of threat to life by two persons
A woman Sub-Registrar, Saraswathi, on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the police against two persons of having allegedly threatened her of acid attack if she did not withdraw a case she had filed against DMK councillor T. Thangamankani recently.
The Srivilliputtur Town police issued a community service register (CSR) receipt to the officer in this connection, sources said. In her complaint, the woman officer said two persons, known to Thangamankani, had come to her and asked her to withdraw the case which she had filed against him.
They also threatened her with dire consequences if she failed to do so. Hence, she had sought protection, the police said.
Based on her first complaint filed in January that Thangamankani threatened her with dire consequences if she did not give funds for the party’s Tiruchi conference, the police had arrested him along with another functionary, on charges of extortion bid and criminal intimidation. However, Inspector of Police, Srivilliputtur Town, Sundarapandian said during investigation the police found that there was nothing to prove that the two persons, she had named in her fresh complaint, threatened her. Hence, the CSR was closed on Thursday, he added.
